Pianist Madeleine Gaudette is from Tignish, Prince Edward Island. In 2021, Madeleine completed her Master's in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at Memorial University, where she studied with Dr. Kristina Szutor and was named a Fellow of the School of Graduate Studies. Madeleine also holds a Bachelor of music from Mount Allison University completed under the tutelage of Dr. Stephen Runge.
Madeleine fell in love with the piano at the age of eight, beginning with the Music for Young Children Program with Brenda Lee Perry. She then continued her piano studies up until university with Mount Allison's Local Centre Examinations, from which she was awarded highest mark in the province multiple times. Madeleine has performed in festivals and recitals across Atlantic Canada. She has represented in the advanced piano category at the PEI Kiwanis Provincial Music Festival as well as New Brunswick's Provincial Music Festival, where she placed first in the Senior Canadian Composer Class. Madeleine has also attended the Orford Music Academy, and played in master classes for Dr. Katherine Dowling, Carter Johnson, and David Jalbert. Additionally, PEI’s Lieutenant Governor, Antoinette Perry, who Madeleine credits as her very first music teacher, awarded her for outstanding piano performance at her local music festivals. Madeleine is inspired by the vastness and beauty of the piano repertoire and strives to always remain curious and to never stop growing.
Before moving to Nova Scotia, Madeleine was a teacher, performer, adjudicator and collaborative pianist in St. John’s, Newfoundland. She has been involved with Giocoso: Teaching Artists of Newfoundland and Labrador, Project Grace, and Frequency Music Studios. On top of this, Madeleine was the Music Director at Topsail United Church. She loves being able to share her love of music with others. Madeleine has a passion for teaching and had over 50 students ages 3-85 in Newfoundland. Whether you are preparing for a Royal Conservatory exam, Kiwanis festival, recital, or playing for your own personal fulfillment, Madeleine strives to meet students where they are at and work together towards their goals - enjoying the process as it goes!
